Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, commercially branded as “Thai”, was founded in 1960 and is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand. It operates full service domestic, regional and intercontinental flights radiating from its home base in Bangkok to key destinations around the world and within Thailand. The company’s paid up capital amounts to Baht 21.83 billion (equivalent to approximately US$675 million based on the Baht/US$ exchange rate as at 30 September 2018) and is 51.03 per cent. owned by the Ministry of Finance and the Government Savings Bank. Thai Airways is listed on the stock exchange of Thailand.

As at 30 June 2018, Thai Airways (including its subsidiary Thai Smile) had an active fleet of 105 aircraft. The fleet consists of 20 narrow-body aircraft and 85 widebody aircraft, of which 8 aircraft are Boeing 787s. The carrier transported more than 24.6 million passengers in 2017.

According to its consolidated unaudited accounts for the year ended 31 December 2017, Thai Airways’ total revenue for that financial year was Baht 191.95 billion (equivalent to approximately US$5.89 billion based on the Baht/US$ exchange rate as at 31 December 2017). Baht 177.75 billion (2016: Baht 166.64 billion) of this revenue was related to transportation activities, Baht 12.11 billion (2016: Baht 11.67 billion) represented revenue from business units and from other activities, while Baht 2.09 billion (2016: Baht 2.25 billion) was related to other income.

According to its consolidated unaudited accounts for the 3 months ended 30 June 2018, Thai´s total revenues for the period was Baht 47.24 billion, an increase of 4.6 per cent on the equivalent 3 month period in the previous year.

Thai’s total assets as at 30 June 2018 were Baht 281.96 billion, including a cash balance of Baht 14.10 billion.
